How to manage and dispose home waste effectively

Many of us don’t think much about how we deal with trash. But we don’t always fully understand why it’s important not only for us, but also for the world around us.

Every home has both organic waste and inorganic waste. To deal with this junk on a regular basis, we need to make a plan, since collection and disposal are important parts of managing this trash.

All the trash you’ve collected at home over time needs to be thrown away in the right way, because some of it could be dangerous to your health. Plus, it’s important to keep things clean.

There are three kinds of trash: trash that can hurt people, trash that can be recycled, and trash that can’t be used again.

Organic waste

Organic waste, which is also called “green waste,” is made up of leftover vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, fruit and vegetable peels, egg shells, and garden and lawn clippings.

Most of this trash can be broken down by living things. When we say that something is biodegradable, we mean that it can be broken down by bacteria or other living things in a short amount of time.

Most of the trash we make at home every day can be called “organic waste.” If you take care of these things at home, you can easily turn them into things you can use again, like high-quality compost.

On the other hand, when this kind of organic waste is put in landfills, it will break down and produce methane gas, which is very bad for the environment and can cause explosions that are hard to predict.

Harmful waste

What kinds of waste are these?

These come from paints, light bulbs, old medicines, chemicals, fertilizer and pesticide containers, spray cans, shoe polish, and batteries.

These also include anything we don’t want that could hurt our health in any way (anything harmful when inhaled, swallowed or absorbed by the skin). A lot of common household items, like TVs, computers, and phones, have toxic chemicals in them that can hurt the air, pollute the water, and make the soil less healthy. Getting rid of these dangerous materials is important for public health.

Recyclable rubbish

Paper, glass, cardboard, metal, tyres, plastic, electronics, and textiles are all things that can be recycled. Recycling also includes the process of composting or reusing biodegradable waste like food and garden waste.

These wastes that are dangerous and can be recycled are called inorganic waste. They don’t break down, so they should be thrown away in a different way than organic waste. If these things are dumped in the wrong places, they could contaminate the soil, which could hurt the environment and people’s health.

E-waste, which is also called “electronic waste,” is another type of trash. Most of these are old electronic parts that can be used again, recycled, or thrown away. But there is no law in place right now to keep track of how e-waste is thrown away.

Most of this electronic waste has dangerous chemicals like cadmium, lead, brominated flame retardants, and a few others. When they are not thrown away or recycled in a scientific way, there is a big risk to the health of the people doing this work.

So, how should we do a good job of managing this waste?

It will be easier to pick up this trash if you don’t bring plastic bags from home. You should get rid of trash on a regular basis so that it doesn’t pile up in your home. And since cockroaches, flies, and ants breed in trash, you won’t have to worry about them coming into your house.

Don’t bring home things that are wrapped in more than one layer. Stop these plastics from piling up by getting rid of all the packaging after you buy something.

Use collection bins to separate organic trash from inorganic trash. Don’t put these scraps in the same container.

Put food waste in a compost pile. You can find helpful information about how to compost on the internet. This method is not only good for getting rid of trash, but it is also cheap. You can save money and get good compost for your kitchen garden at the same time.
